HIMSS15 Annual Conference Chicago, IL April 12 - 16, 2015 Members of the Mosaica leadership team attended the HIMSS annual conference that is the industry's largest health IT educational program and exhibition center. This year George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States was one of the keynote speakers.
In addition to attending the conference, Laura Kolkman and Lorie Mayer, the State of Arizona HIT Coordinator, presented “Beyond HITECH: Arizona’s Collaborative Strategic HIT Plan” on Monday, April 13, 2015. Their presentation takes the audience on a journey of collaboration and the development of “Arizona’s Health IT Roadmap 2.0”.

Members of the Mosaica leadership team attended the HIMSS annual conference that is the industry's largest health IT educational program and exhibition center. The conference, which is the largest and most attended health IT product and education exhibition, provided attendees with the tools and resources needed to effect change in the health IT industry. This year, Hillary Clinton was one of the keynote speakers.
Bob Brown attended this two day event that brings together leading healthcare executives, including clinicians, health systems, hospitals, pharmacies, labs, and technology vendors. Speakers at the event discussed the best practices in healthcare innovation, and address where innovation, information and new economic and care delivery models meet the patient of the future.
Laura Kolkman was an invited delegate at the Lake Nona Impact Forum, an assembling of thought leaders and innovators to discuss emerging and future innovations in health care.

2013 Health Data Exchange & Interoperability Summit

Members of the Mosaica leadership team attended eHealth Initiative’s Health Data Exchange & Interoperability Summit. This two-day event featured a series of brief case studies and interactive multi-stakeholder panels focused on electronic health information exchange and its impact on patient care.
Laura Kolkman participated in an interactive discussion of the future outlook of healthcare and health IT, health information exchange, and patient engagement in eHealth which the National eHealth Collaborative is hosting in conjunction with their Board of Directors meeting.
Special guests of the event were Troy Brennan, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of CVS Caremark, and Josh Seidman, PhD, Managing Director Quality & Performance Improvement at Evolent Health.
Florida Institute of CPAs - Health Care Industry Conference Orlando, FL April 25 - 26, 2013 Laura Kolkman spoke at this conference on the topic of preparing accounting professionals to survive and succeed in the health information exchange environment.
The 2013 FICPA Health Care Industry Conference was convened to inform CPAs and public practitioners about the foreseeable future of health care in the United States. Attendees learned how to best adapt their clients to changes in legislation while learning the latest standards for these entities.

UCF College of Medicine held a ceremony recognizing local physicians and practice administrators who have earned the designation as a UCF Regional Extension Center Meaningful Use Vanguard. As part of the program, a panel discussion was held on the “Outlook for the Future of Healthcare – Connecting the Dots,” in which Laura Kolkman and other HIT leaders discussed Meaningful Use, HIE, PCMH and the Triple Aim of healthcare. Laura Kolkman was a member of the panel of Subject Matter Experts and HIT leaders that discussed Meaningful Use, HIE, PCMH and the Triple Aim of healthcare.
The Meaningful Use Vanguards (MUVers) are a prestigious group of providers, office staff, and administrators who are making Meaningful Use meaningful in their organizations and are champions of Health IT both at their organization and in their local community.

Laura Kolkman was in Washington to attend the ONC annual meeting, along with hundreds of key stakeholders including doctors, patients, techies, policymakers and health IT gurus.

Laura Kolkman attended the 2012 State Healthcare IT Connect Summit, which examines the role of state health IT modernization and transformation at the intersection of HITECH and state health reform.
States play an evolving and expanding role in not only driving Medicaid modernization but to also implement statewide health information exchange, state benefits exchanges and support the adoption and 'meaningful use' of health IT by provider organizations to participate in new coordinated delivery models such as accountable care organizations (ACOs) and medical homes.

On Monday, April 23, Laura Kolkman participated in this conference as a panel member in the "Privacy & Security Issues Associated with ACOs" session. The session discussed the confidentiality and HIPAA issues involved with accountable care organizations (ACOs) and the Medicare Shared Savings program. The conference provided an opportunity to learn about how other AMCs are handling important privacy and security issues such as the Omnibus Privacy Regulation, BioBanking, Risk Analysis, Breach Assessment, Cyber Crime & Espionage, and Cloud Computing.
2012 Health Information Exchange Summit

On March 21, Laura Kolkman was the keynote speaker at the first annual Health Information Exchange Summit hosted and sponsored by the Cerner Corporation. The Summit brought Cerner clients and their HIE exchange members together to learn how interoperability is working across the country and across systems, allowing providers a complete picture of the patient that extends to all venues of care and, in turn, enables treatment of the whole person and not just a presenting condition.

Laura Kolkman is a member of the USF College of Public Health Advisory Board. The College of Public Health's mission is to improve the public’s health through advancing discovery, learning, and service. The College continues to do great things in Florida and around the world. Locally, the College engages in various community service projects, that recently included a free flu shot drive and the building of a neighborhood playground. Internationally, the College promotes collaboration in education, reasearch and patient care, by supporting a research facility in Panama and sending supervised intern teams abroad to serve in healthcare facilities in underdeveloped countries.

On October 7, 2011, Laura Kolkman presented "HIE: Meaningful Use and Beyond". During this session, attendees gained a better understanding of the role of HIE in transforming the nation’s healthcare system and the status of the high impact programs underway as part of both HITECH and PPACA. They also explored the critical role of HIE in achieving meaningful use and how the secure exchange of health information provides the essential groundwork for improving healthcare now and into the future.
